Catching up on the projects I missed because I was ill. I think I have most things under control now but I'm still running around a bit! Finished this editorial with gouache. Also bought a snazzy new sketch book and MORE gouache today. I really wanted to buy cyan, but 14ml was £8.

It's my sister's birthday on the 13th so I brushed up on my type skills in her card. Partially because I can never write anything meaningful, and the card was super cute from Paperchase so it deserved it.

This is one of my character designs that I realise I have never uploaded. Shame, because it's one of my favourites. I get really engrossed with Shaun Tan's work, and I love that he is a successful illustrator that just uses simple, accessible drawing methods. Well, one things I've always loved is observational drawing and realism. So, I made this whale helicopter. Rather large pencil drawing on A3.

A better picture of myself flying around my kitchen (still taken with my phone while I have no memory card for my camera). I love the legs. All of my characters for the Social Gathering piece are all individual, so I can re-arrange them if I don't like where it's going on judgment day.

Sorry for the lack of posts. I have been ill all week! I have (semi) recuperated (but to think I settled in with my scented candles in the studio!) and have started working on my Social Gathering project. My idea is to turn all of my characters into toys and have me jumping out of the box. Something cute, fun. I have a feeling that if I focused more on making a scene, I would be too overwhelmed with mixed media. I'm trying to town my colour palette down so it's more subtle. Purchasing gouache was a brilliant idea (do it everybody) but I need to buy some more tomorrow! Anyway, I really like the central figure. Hope it'll all come together well.
